Founded in 1962, Akiba Academy of Dallas is a Modern Orthodox day school that welcomes Jewish children from 3 months through eighth grade, regardless of level of observance. Akiba provides a nourishing, educational environment that is second to none. We’re not just a school; we’re a community.
First and foremost, Akiba provides an excellent educational program. From a stellar Judaic program to an impressive general studies program, an Akiba education ensures that your child will have the opportunity to learn it all. Every teacher is dedicated to teaching your child as an individual. They not only help students develop a pride in their heritage and knowledge of the world around them; they also help them to discover the strengths and skills that lie within them. Akiba's unique approach facilitates the emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth of each student, providing the foundation for each child to become a responsible, intelligent and moral Jewish leader of tomorrow.
As part of Akiba’s Judaic education, knowledge of TaNaKh, Chumash, Jewish tradition and Halacha (law) are the cornerstones. Akiba teaches ethical standards and a belief in the dignity of every human being. Of paramount importance is the teaching of Middot (character traits), which are a prerequisite for a Torah-based lifestyle. Students develop a strong connection to the State of Israel as Hebrew is taught as a dynamic, living language and emphasis is placed on Zionism, the history of the land of Israel, its people and culture.
The general studies program is just as impressive. Courses include language, science, mathematics, social studies, music, computer, and the arts. Our new campus provides students with even greater access to innovative and cutting edge technology, arts facilities, science labs and cultural programs. Team sports and learning healthy competition are part of this balanced education as well. Akiba has a strong athletic program with championship teams in both volleyball and basketball.
Akiba is a member of the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools, the National Society of Hebrew Day Schools and the Association of Modern Orthodox Day Schools. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a beneficiary of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. Akiba was Dallas’ first private elementary school to be cited for excellence by the United States Department of Education. Akiba’s Pre-School program has been chosen as one of thirteen model sites across the country for the Jewish Early Childhood Educational Initiative (JECEI).
